Speak Out Tasmania’s Judy Huett has been appointed as a Member of the National Disability Insurance Agency’s Independent Advisory Council.

Judy works with the Speak Out Self Advocacy Liaison and Support team. This involves capacity building with her peers and the Speak Out Members’ Executive. She is admired and respected by people from all walks of life.

An accomplished leader, Judy has travelled to Geneva, Switzerland in 2013 with the expert group to talk to and present to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD); the national Inclusion Australia Our Voice Committee (immediate past Chair) and two terms with the Tasmanian Premier’s Disability Advisory Council (PDAC).

Judy has been a member since inception of the Intellectual Disability Reference Group (IDRG). The longevity of Judy’s commitment to the NDIS is evidenced by her participation in the delegation of self-advocates to Parliament House Canberra to lobby for the NDIS.

Congratulations Judy, people with intellectual disability can be confident that their views and experiences of the NDIS will be well represented by you on the IAC.
