Valued Lives is all about peer connection and we are always thinking outside the box to find new peer initiatives that can further support the people and families that we help.

One such initiative was the recent launch of our online resource booklet ‘Insider Info’ at our Carers Week afternoon tea.

Often, the inside information parents/carers have regarding a family member with a disability is unintentionally left out of the communication process. Valued Lives’ Insider Info booklet hopes to address that communication gap.

This excellent resource was developed by family members who have a son or daughter living with disability; providing a guided template for family members and carers to record useful information that they can store or share with others.

Karen Reid, Chairperson of Valued Lives Board said “Insider Info is a resource for us to download and share all that stuff that is important about our family member, that only we know and have stored in our heads.”

The Insider Info booklet, as well as additional pages, can be downloaded from Valued Lives website.

The booklet and pages can also be typed into online and then saved to your desktop, or they can be printed off,  written in and made into your own booklet.

We hope people find this peer driven initiative a helpful resource and a positive addition to the way in which they record and share information about their family with others.
