VALID is a disability advocacy organisation committed to the vision of an Australian nation in which people with disability are empowered to exercise their rights as human beings and as citizens in accordance with the Victorian Charter on Human Rights and Responsibilities, the Victorian Disability Act 2006 and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
VALID provides individual and systemic advocacy support to adults with intellectual disability living in Victoria, and conducts a range of information and training activities designed to empower people with disabilities to speak up with confidence. VALID also facilitates a range of local support groups for people with a disability and family members, including self advocacy groups and networks, parent support groups and peer groups to support people who are either receiving Individual Support Packages or who are NDIS participants.
