NDIA has expanded the pilot for the new participant pathway to the following Victorian Local Government Areas (LGAs):
- Bayside, Frankston, Glen Eira, Kingston, Mornington Peninsula, Port Phillip, and Stonnington with LAC Brotherhood St Laurence
The pathway pilot is focused on better pre-planning and improvements to planning. The aim of the pilot is for a person to work side-by-side with a planner and Local Area Coordinator to talk about their goals, develop a plan and then implement the plan.
A key focus of the joint planning meeting is ensuring participants can discuss and review their pre-finalised plan, what is being funded, how this links to their goals, and make minor adjustments, before the plan is approved. In most cases in the pilot this is occurring in the face to face meeting allowing implementation to begin immediately.
Our participant reference group has also worked with us to develop the first version of an easy-to-read plan, which will be piloted with participants soon.
Tailored pathways update
NDIA is in the process of improving the tailored pathways for the following population groups:
- participants with complex needs
- early childhood (birth to six years)
- participants with psychosocial disability
- people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- remote and very remote communities, and
- lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, intersex and asexual (LGBTIQA+).
The NDIA has hosted 31 workshops to develop the tailored pathways. A further four workshops are planned for March. Following the workshops, NDIA will start the redesign work and the approaches will be piloted prior to national rollout.
Pathway report
The NDIA has released a more detailed Report on the Pathways Review.
The objective was to understand their experience; to generate ideas for improvement; and to redesign and validate new improved participant and provider pathways.
This Report describes in more detail how participants, their families and carers and providers have and will interact in the future with the Scheme and the NDIA.
The Board and management recognise the need to continually improve the experience that people with disability as well as service providers have with the Scheme. Read the full report (PDF 836KB).
