NDIS General Information
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a way of providing support for Australians living with disability, their families and carers.
The NDIS provides over 460,000 Australians under the age of 65 with disability with the reasonable and necessary supports they need to live an ordinary life.
As an insurance scheme, the NDIS takes a lifetime approach, investing in people with disability early to improve their outcomes later in life.
Peer networks are a great way for people to find out more about the NDIS. It is a complex scheme to navigate so here you will find Quick Guides on general information about the NDIS, such as what it is and how it helps and where to go to find useful information.
The index to the left shows the current range of topics. Click on each one to read/download a QuickGuide. Some index items include links to video clips.
We expect the range and number of topics to grow.
E-mail us if there are other topics you would like to see here, or if you would like to write a QuickGuide to go here.
This video below talks about the NDIS and the benefits of peer networks.
The Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Disability Network QLD made this video about Doug who is looking forward to the NDIS so he can make changes to his home, like wider doorways. This video has open captions and Auslan.
