Gay Pritchard a WA Peer Networker who runs a peer group for foster carers parenting children with Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder in Bunbury was recently recognised for her work by receiving an Order of Australia Medal for service to children as a foster carer.
This Peer Support Network is funded by the DSO initiative through DDWA. The group’s main achievements have been bringing people together to know they are not alone and where they can share information and ideas and support each other.
A group in Busselton (town 50kms further south) has also linked in with the Bunbury group. They have also forged links with the Perth FASD Network and funds made available through the DSO initiative have made travelling to meetings and information sessions possible. The group is now fundraising and working on building sustainability into the future.
