Sue Berg is a member of the PDCN Shoalhaven Self Advocacy Group. Sue’s passion is to empower children to focus on their ability. She strives to be an advocate for children living with disability through writing books, educating children and teaching them that disability shouldn’t be a barrier and those living with disability should be treated as equals in the community.

Sue completed her Certificate 3 Disability Services at Nowra TAFE several years ago, and since then she has authored several children’s books. Sue writes and illustrates her own books that send clear messages that all children be treated equally.

Sue has authored 12 books that she sells at local markets, but in 2016 she took things up a level when “Buddies” was published with funding from the Disability Trust and The Archer Committee.

The book is all about the adventures of Buddy, a little ant who is visually impaired. Primary schools are using the book “Buddies” as a learning tool to educate students about acceptance and integration of people living with a disability.

Sue illustrates all her books, taking 2 hours to draw each picture.  Vision Australia are going to convert the book into Braille and Digital books for libraries. Congratulations Sue!
